A few more things

I have not posted in several months but I have had a busy last couple of months. School (as always), new job, moving, Thanksgiving and now Christmas around the corner.

I made this hat this weekend after watching a video a few times to make sure I got it all right.  It is not perfect but it only the first one. The video is here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMRkIT5UsZE

I hope to make more hats. Who knows I may make some for Christmas presents.

Until next time.

A Pillow and a Blanket

I made my brother a frog pillow just like the one he had when we were little. I found the fabric panel on Ebay and bought it. I stuffed him way more than his first one. I hope he loves or even likes it a little. (I dont know why the pictures come in sideways.

I made this blanket yesterday for a good friend of mine. I don't know what I did wrong but the binding about made me pull my hair out. I usually can bind with out any problems but today was something else. This was a knot blanket kit but I put my own twist to it. Instead of tying knots I placed a binding around it. When I put a binding around a knot blanket I call it Up-Scaling. (I apologize for the bad picture.)

She does not know she is getting it. I made one for another friend about a year ago and saw how much this friend liked it so I made her one.

Until next time.....

My latest blanket

I went out on a limb and way out of my comfort zone. I really do not sew for the public due to my busy work and school schedule plus no one ever appreciates the work that goes into the project.

Anyway this guy at work came to me several times and asked me to make his mom a blanket for her birthday and I would tell him no. I finally broke down and said okay, I will do it. He told me her birthday was several months away and he knew my schedule was hectic.

Her favorite color is red. I finally found some fleece he liked and made the blanket (no, not a quilt. have not got that brave yet). I gave it to him Friday he loved and was very thankful. He give it to her yesterday and she loved it. She even called me to tell me thank you and that I did a wonderful job. I felt great because she is a former seamstress for the whole town. She told me that she does not do blankets because she does not have the patience for it. Patience for it...she used to make the uniforms for the high school band. To say the least It was nice to have someone say thank you.

The blanket is very easy to make. I take two pieces of fleece, wrong sides together and put a binding around them. Then put little hand-sewn stitches at different places so the blanket will stay together. I am still learning but I am making progress.

Until next time.....

Bandanna pants

Never made pants before in my life but I made these for my niece on the first try. I took the pictures before I put the elastic in the waist.

I have some more bandanna fabric but I am going to wait until she grows a little taller before I make any more.

Until next time....

Blankets I have made

These are the blankets that I have made since late 2011. They are quite easy. I take two pieces of fleece wrong sides together, place a binding around them and sew them up. The length depends upon the receiver, how tall they are. The width is just the way it came off the bolt.

My very first one or almost the first one.

These are my parents blankets. Yes, we are Georgia Bulldog fans.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Made for my nieces. The dinosaur one is my all time favorite. The blankets on each end are fleece but the one in the middle is flannel on both sides with a hand-made binding by me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My brothers blankets. Both are in the military.

For my sister in law.
(Sorry about the quality of the picture. Sometimes I am not the greatest photographer.)

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first one was made for a Rely for Life raffle. The other two were for a friend's two girls Christmas presents for last year. These are the local high school's colors.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Knot blanket kits turned  into regular blankets. I, personally, hate knot blankets.

Another knot blanket up-scaled, front and back.

That is all for this post.

Until next time......

This is a re-start

Re-starting!!!

To make a long story short I had a blog going but for some reason it has vanished.

The high points of my blogging past:
  • I can not match colors. I am not color blind but I am not good with matching colors.
  • I can cross stitch almost anything. I do not like to do in-depth hard projects. Life is hard enough so why do I want to complicate it.
  • In 2011, I bought my first sewing machine and taught myself to sew by reading books and blogs, and looking at youtube videos many, many times.
  • I have made only a few sewing things except for blankets. I have never quilted a day in my life so I have to say I make blankets.
  • I can make my own binding and can bind a blanket with perfect mitered corners.
That is all for now for it is way past my bed time.

Until next time, happy stitching.
